Minor Posting

Basically minor posting involves rotation between 4 dept which is the Opthalmology, Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine and ENT, each for 2 weeks. The most busy posting was ENT, The least busy was Anest, the best posting was AnE and Opthal won award for fair and square posting.

Firstly, it was Opthalmology Posting. I was once asked, how much can you learn from an Organ? basically an eyeballs? even ENT was 3 organ posting. The answer from lecturer was simple. It was everything. You would learn about neurology, medical, systemic disease and also surgery. It was true as we not only learn about the disease of the eye, it also includes other disease that have presentation on the eye, from DM to trauma.




The Anest posting, basically which deals with pains and sedations. At first I thought the work of anesthetist was as easy as giving drugs to the patient. The reality was they bears the responsibility of life of the patient, either in ICU or for patient to undergo a safe surgery. Anesthetist once was potrayed by Adam Kays(amateur transplant) in Anesthetist hymn. enjoy it!




Next, it was AnE posting, deals with triage the patient and also early management of patient. Here we learn to do procedure, inserting branula, taking ABG, inserting urinary catheter, simple suturing and if you lucky, doing a resuscitation. My friends and I usually came after midnight despite our session in the morning or evening coz we love it and we did completed the compulsary 10 session before the schedule time.

Last but not least was ENT. It was busy as there were a lot of tutorials and classes in addition to the clinic and wardwork. + u have to read about ENT, which is a lot to cover by 8days posting. However, we got through it and was a bit lethargic with the posting. FOr that, before started our major posting, we went traveling to Taman Negara which I may write later..
